Public Hearing USACE for Proposed Carbon Capture Project in Ascension Parish, Saint James Parish, Saint John the Baptist Parish, Livingston Parish, and Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana.
Public Hearing: Air Products “Louisiana Clean Energy Complex” Lake Maurepas Carbon Capture/Sequestration
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (CEMVN) will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM in LaPlace regarding the permit application from Air Products Blue Energy, LLC to construct and operate the proposed Louisiana Clean Energy Complex in and around Lake Maurepas.
Location: New Wine Christian Fellowship
1929 West Airline Highway
LaPlace, Louisiana 70068
The project would include:
A low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia production facility in Ascension Parish
Carbon capture pipelines and Class VI sequestration wells extending into Lake Maurepas
Additional supporting infrastructure across St. James, St. John the Baptist, Livingston, and Tangipahoa Parishes
Do we want carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects and pipelines in Lake Maurepas?
Lake Maurepas is one of Louisiana’s last pristine natural lakes — a place with no existing heavy industry.
Yet this project proposes to install pipelines and deep injection wells directly into the lake for long-term carbon storage.
Many in the Maurepas area have worked hard to force this public hearing and demand transparency about the project’s risks.
Now is the time to speak up!
Project Information:
This hearing follows a 30-day public notice issued on June 30, 2025, with a comment period that closed on July 30, 2025.
CEMVN is holding this hearing in response to public comments received during that period.

Scenic River Public Hearing for Flower Bayou and Timberbranch proposed Developments
Public Hearing: Protect Our Scenic Rivers
Topic: Three Scenic River permit applications by All State Financial Co. to discharge stormwater from proposed developments into Flower Bayou and Timber Branch Creek, southwest of Covington along the Ochsner Blvd Extension. Hearing set for November 13, 2025, 5:00pm at the St. Tammany Parish Council Chamber, 21490Koop Drive, Mandeville, LA
Both of these designated Scenic Streams have suffered from heavy development pressures over the past two decades. As tributaries of the Little Tchefuncte River, they were recently targeted for removal from the Louisiana Scenic Rivers Program—a move that community action successfully stopped in the State Senate Committee.
📣 Join us to speak up for Flower Bayou and Timber Branch Creek!
Your participation helps shape how our community protects these fragile waterways.
